CAPTURE & CALM WALKS AT A GLANCE

1.  What is Capture & Calm Walk's

Capture & Calm Walks CIC is a women led community wellbeing project based in Romiley, Stockport, supporting people across Greater Manchester. We bring people together through mindful walking, photography, creativity, and gentle acts of care for place.

Our walks encourage people to slow down, notice their surroundings, and find calm through connection with nature, creativity, and each other. Capture & Calm Walks is not fitness focused or competitive. It is about connection, reflection, and wellbeing.

Sessions take place in parks, canals, green spaces, and countryside locations across Greater Manchester.

Alongside our women’s walks, we also offer low cost family walks, occasional free community walks, and community creative events that help bring people together through shared creative experiences.

Many of our sessions are designed to reduce barriers to wellbeing support by offering affordable or free opportunities where possible.

2. Who can join the Walk's

Our in person women’s walks and creative sessions are currently open to women aged 18+. This helps create safe, supportive spaces where women can share openly and feel at ease.

Our family walks and community creative events are open to wider groups, helping people of different ages and backgrounds access wellbeing through nature and creativity.

Our online creative wellbeing resources and reflections are open to all adults.

3. Do I need experience, special equipment, or a camera?

No experience is needed. Capture & Calm is about slowing down and noticing, not technical skill. Most people use their phones to take photos.

We usually carry a spare camera that participants are welcome to use if they would like to try photography during the walk.

Many walks are gentle and designed to be inclusive. Information about distance, terrain, and accessibility is always included in event descriptions so people can choose what feels right for them.

4. Do you sell journals, books or creative wellbeing resources?

Yes. Alongside our walks, we create journals, books, and creative wellbeing resources designed to support reflection, calm, and creativity.

Through Capture & Calm Walks Art, we also create nature inspired pop art prints and creative items influenced by mindful moments outdoors.

Every purchase helps support Capture & Calm Walks CIC and contributes towards running accessible community wellbeing activities.

5. How is Capture & Calm Walks funded and how can I support?

Any income we receive is reinvested back into community wellbeing activities. Funding comes from a combination of grants, donations, community event income, and sales of journals, books, and creative art resources.

You can support us by joining a walk, attending a creative event, purchasing from Capture & Calm Walks Art, or donating via Ko fi. Every contribution helps keep our activities accessible and sustainable.

Our work also supports environmental wellbeing through mindful litter picks and encouraging care for local green spaces across Greater Manchester.

6. Is Capture & Calm Walks therapy or counselling and can organisations work with you?

Capture & Calm Walks offers peer wellbeing support rather than counselling or therapy. We focus on creating calm, creative, and supportive community spaces and can signpost to additional support services where needed.

We welcome collaborations with organisations, venues, and individuals across Greater Manchester who share our values around wellbeing, creativity, inclusion, and community. Sessions are risk assessed and facilitated with care to support a safe and welcoming environment.
