here, together

The Story

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Here, Together is a gentle Pebble Wood story about noticing small changes in nature and the quiet ways connection grows.

This story is part of the Here, Together community event delivered by Capture & Calm Walks CIC during the GM Live Well Spring Festival.

During the session, visitors are invited to pause, notice and take part in a simple creative activity by contributing a small piece to a shared community collage. Each piece represents a small moment of creativity or reflection, and together they form a growing artwork created by the community.

You are invited to read slowly, pause, and notice the small moments along the way.

Pip is already there.

They like this place.

It is where small changes are easier to notice

if you pause for a while.

Today, there is more to see than before.

Down by the pebble path,

small flowers are beginning to show.

Along the branches,

new leaves are starting to grow.

Beside the stones,

the grass looks brighter,

and soft moss spreads gently around them.

Hope arrives.

She notices all the colours.

Yellow in the flowers.

Fresh green in the new growth.

Deeper green in the moss.

She watches how the light moves across the stones,

changing each one just a little.

Finn comes along the winding path.

He looks down, then up again.

Flowers beside the path.

Fresh leaves above in the trees.

He lifts his camera and takes photos,

slowing when something catches his eye.

Wren settles nearby.

He listens.

The grass moves as the breeze passes.

Leaves move softly.

Nearby, water flows between the stones.

He listens quietly.

Rae comes from Dusky Rock Bank to be with them.

She settles where water meets stone.

Here, moss grows soft and still,

and flowers gather close to the edge.

She notices shapes moving in the water,

and where one thing slowly becomes another.

Pip sketches peacefully.

They draw what they notice.

Petals opening.

Leaves growing.

Grass swaying.

Moss settling into the spaces between stones.

No one tells anyone else what to notice.

Pause for a moment

As you read, notice something around you.

A sound, a colour, the light, or something

growing.

Everyone notices in their own way.

Some notice flowers.

Some notice leaves.

Some notice grass or moss instead.

Some notice how everything fits together.

They show each other what they have seen.

They place their pictures side by side.

Photographs beside sketches.

Light beside shade.

Each one different.

The collage grows.

They do not hurry.

Nothing needs explaining.

They slow down

because things are growing,

and there is time to notice.

When it feels right,

they will carry on home.

The flowers remain, opening.

Leaves continue to grow.

The grass brightens.

Moss spreads slowly.

But for this moment,

they are here, together.

Why Here, Together Matters

Simple creative activities can help people feel calmer, more connected and more confident in taking part in community spaces.

Here, Together invites people to pause, notice the world around them and contribute a small piece to a shared artwork, showing how individual moments of creativity can come together to form something meaningful.

Who This Is For

Activities like this are especially valuable for people who may be experiencing isolation, caring responsibilities or reduced confidence in attending group activities.

By creating a calm and welcoming space, Here, Together encourages people to take part in community life at their own pace and feel part of something shared.
