Future Journeys CIC

Future Journeys CIC is a community organisation supporting children and young people through gentle creative wellbeing activities. Our work provides calm, inclusive spaces where children can build confidence, explore their feelings and reflect on their experiences at their own pace. Drawing on lived experience, community engagement and nature-based approaches, we offer accessible support for children who may be navigating additional pressures such as SEND needs, anxiety, caring responsibilities or life changes.
About Future Journey's
& Our approach
Future Journeys CIC is a community organisation supporting children and young people through gentle creative wellbeing activities. Our work helps children feel safe, build confidence and explore their thoughts and feelings in calm, inclusive spaces where they can engage at their own pace.
We aim to provide accessible, supportive opportunities for children who may be experiencing additional pressures, including anxiety, SEND needs, caring responsibilities or life changes.
Future Journeys combines gentle creative reflection, storytelling and nature-based noticing to help children slow down, capture small moments and express themselves in ways that feel comfortable.
Drawing on experience from Capture & Calm Walks CIC, we bring elements of calm nature connection into everyday life, encouraging children to notice their surroundings, reflect on experiences and build confidence through creative expression.
We use the Pebble Wood story world as a gentle, accessible way for children to engage with emotions, reflection and personal growth through stories, characters and creative activities.
All activities are designed to be inclusive, flexible and child-led, with no pressure to share more than they feel ready to.

Future Journeys activities are designed to help children:
• understand and express their feelings
• build confidence and self-belief
• feel calmer and safer
• reflect on experiences and memories
• communicate with trusted people
• feel supported and less alone

who we support
Future Journeys supports children and young people who may:
• feel anxious or overwhelmed
• have SEND or additional needs
• be supporting others at home
• benefit from calm creative reflection
• need gentle confidence-building support
We aim to create welcoming spaces where every child feels included and understood.
Activities are designed to be accessible, low-pressure and inclusive for children with different communication styles, confidence levels and support needs.
how families access future journeys
Children and families may access Future Journeys through community engagement, referrals from local organisations, schools or support groups, and through community wellbeing work connected to Capture & Calm Walks CIC. Information about activities is also shared through local advertising, community networks and family support organisations.
Our approach is informed by ongoing engagement with families, SEND groups and community wellbeing work.

Working Alongside Other Support Organisations
Future Journeys works alongside a range of organisations supporting children, young carers and families with additional needs. We signpost families to specialist services and community groups where appropriate, helping ensure children receive the right support at the right time.
These include local Young Carers services, Francis House Hospice Seasons sibling group, Reuben’s Retreat family art and animal therapy programmes, Whizz Kidz family groups, Sense family support groups and Jump Children’s Charity family events.
Through conversations with organisations including Francis House Hospice and Child Bereavement UK, we understand there can be a gap between structured group support and formal counselling services. Future Journeys aims to offer gentle creative wellbeing support that helps children reflect, express themselves and feel supported within this space, alongside existing services.

Future Journeys has been shaped by both community work and lived experience. As a parent of a child with complex needs, and with young carers in our family, we understand first-hand how important calm, accessible support can be for children navigating additional responsibilities, worries or emotional pressure.
This lived understanding helps inform our gentle, inclusive approach and our focus on creating supportive opportunities that feel safe and realistic for families.

Our team has many years of direct involvement working alongside families of children with SEND and additional needs, including over six years supporting and engaging with families through the Signol SEND Support community group.
Future Journeys is also supported by directors and volunteers with a range of relevant experience, including:
• photography and creative facilitation
• supporting children with SEND and additional needs
• leadership roles within Rainbows and youth groups
• community wellbeing delivery and inclusive event organisation
Our aim is simple: to give children safe, calm opportunities to pause, reflect, explore their experiences and feel supported on their own journey.
We welcome partnerships with schools, community groups and organisations supporting children and families.
