Accessible local walking guides are on their way

We are developing ten visual walking guides to help people feel more confident exploring local routes and making walking part of everyday life.

Each guide will use photographs and short videos to show what people can expect before setting out, including:

• Path surfaces and gradients
• Steps, gates and narrower sections
• Benches and rest points
• Toilets and nearby facilities
• Parking and public transport
• Approximate distance and time
• Potential access barriers
• Places to pause and notice nature
