Our Community Moments

Capture & Calm Walks Events & Creative Gatherings

Capture & Calm Walks brings people together through gentle outdoor experiences, creative activities and wellbeing-focused community events.

Each event is created to offer space to pause, notice, connect and enjoy creativity in a welcoming environment. This page shares some of the moments, themes and activities we have already explored together.

Joy & Positivity Christmas Tree Festival (December 2025)

A warm and welcoming community celebration bringing people together through creativity, reflection and connection.

The event included:

• Community tree displays

• Wellbeing stalls from local small businesses

• Children’s creative activities

• Space to pause, reflect and connect

This event marked our first large community wellbeing festival and brought together families, individuals and local organisations.

The children’s creative activities at the event were led through Future Journeys CIC, including a free crafting table and a community Joy & Positivity Wall where children could write messages, hopes and positive thoughts. This gentle activity created a calm space for children to express themselves, take part in their own way and feel included in the shared community celebration.

Hearts & Friendship Creative Event (February 2026)

A gentle storytelling and creative session inspired by Pebble Wood themes of connection and belonging.

Activities included:

• Pebble Wood story reading

• Friendship stone decorating

• Wooden slice nature crafts

• Capture & Calm Makers table with reflection activities (women only)

• Community creativity displays

This event focused on encouraging kindness, shared creativity and meaningful conversation through simple, accessible activities.

International Women's Day: Wellbeing Evening (March 2026)

We gathered at Signol Community Centre in Romiley for a special International Women’s Day Wellbeing Evening with the Capture & Calm Walks community.

It was a calm and welcoming space where women could slow down, spend time together and take part in a variety of gentle creative and wellbeing activities.

During the evening, women could try free sewing activities, learn a little about fine art, and enjoy creative crafts provided by Romiley WI and Sustainable Living Romiley. There were also free cakes and self care treatments, helping to create a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

There was also the opportunity to learn more about Evolving Colours, exploring colour and personal style in a relaxed and friendly way, with gentle conversations around confidence, wellbeing and navigating life’s transitions.

A particularly lovely moment during the evening was a performance from Affinity Show Choir, whose beautiful singing filled the room and created a warm and uplifting atmosphere.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT

Part of the GM Live Well Spring Festival

Here, Together: Creative Wellbeing Session

(March 2026)

We hosted a relaxed creative wellbeing session inspired by the Pebble Wood™ story world, where people could pause, notice and create a small piece for a shared community collage, with free refreshments and a warm welcome for all.

It was open to adults, families and individuals of all confidence levels, with gentle activities that could be joined at their own pace.

Participants were also welcomed to explore the Here, Together online community story which ran alongside the festival and encouraged people to continue noticing and reflecting beyond the session.

What a fantastic day we had at Olive’s Nature Trail at Brabyns Recreation Centre.

Delivered by Capture & Calm Walks CIC, with support from Future Journeys CIC and funding from the MSV Kindness Fund, the event brought together nature, creativity, exploration and family fun in a relaxed and welcoming outdoor setting.

Children enjoyed decorating their Nature Explorer Bags before setting off to follow Olive’s trail, discovering activity stations, taking part in nature-themed challenges and collecting a special reward at the end. Families spent quality time together outdoors, exploring the park, noticing the world around them and enjoying simple moments of connection.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing children engage with nature in their own way. Whether they were exploring independently, taking part alongside siblings, or joining in with support from parents and carers, everyone was encouraged to participate at their own pace.

The event reflected our commitment to creating inclusive, affordable opportunities that support wellbeing, creativity, community connection and access to nature. We were especially pleased to welcome SEND families and provide a friendly, low-pressure environment where children and families could feel comfortable, valued and included.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered and supported the event. We are particularly grateful to the MSV Kindness Fund for helping make this opportunity available to local families.

We look forward to bringing more Little Barnaby Farm adventures and community activities to families across Stockport in the future.
