ACCESSIBILITY AND FIRST TIMERS WELCOME

Joining something new can feel daunting, especially if you are not sure what to expect. Capture and Calm Walks are designed to be gentle, welcoming and inclusive, and many people join us feeling nervous at first. You will not be the only one.

First time visitors

Most people come on their own for their first walk. Some people feel anxious, unsure about fitness, worried about keeping up, or concerned they might not know anyone. This is completely normal and our sessions are designed with this in mind.

You are welcome to join quietly, take your time settling in, and take part only in the parts that feel comfortable for you. There is never any pressure to talk, share personal experiences or join every activity.

Gentle pace and relaxed structure

Our walks are not fitness hikes. They are gentle wellbeing sessions focused on being outdoors, noticing your surroundings and taking things at a comfortable pace. We plan routes carefully and include pauses along the way. Nobody is expected to walk fast or keep up with anyone else.

Photography is always optional. Many people simply use their phone, and some people choose not to take photos at all.

Accessibility and support

We aim to make our sessions as accessible as possible and we always provide information about the route in advance where we can. This may include details about distance, terrain, paths, seating opportunities and toilet access if available nearby.

If you have mobility needs, sensory needs, anxiety about joining, or anything that might help you feel more comfortable, you are very welcome to contact us before booking. We will always do our best to support you and answer any questions honestly.

Welcoming different experiences

People join Capture and Calm Walks for many different reasons. Some are returning to activity after illness or burnout. Some are carers needing a little time for themselves. Some are new to the area and hoping to meet others. Some simply want quiet time outdoors.

You do not need any previous experience of walking groups, photography or wellbeing activities. Everything is explained gently at the start and you can join in as much or as little as you wish.

A calm and supportive atmosphere

Our sessions are designed to feel friendly but low pressure. Gentle conversation often happens naturally, but quiet participation is equally welcome. You are always free to step aside, walk at your own pace, or simply enjoy the surroundings.

Questions are always welcome

If you are unsure whether a session is right for you, or if something would help you feel more confident attending, please contact us and we will happily help.

You are very welcome exactly as you are.
