what happens on a Capture & calm walk

If you are thinking about joining us for the first time, you might be wondering what actually happens at a session. Many people feel unsure before they come, and that is completely normal. Our walks are designed to feel welcoming, gentle and relaxed from the moment you arrive.

Arriving

When you arrive you will be greeted by Sarah or one of the team. There is no pressure to talk straight away. Some people arrive early and chat, others prefer to settle quietly. Both are absolutely fine.

A gentle welcome

At the start we give a short friendly introduction explaining the route, the pace and anything helpful to know. We also explain the gentle wellbeing theme for the walk. This might be something like noticing colour, spotting small details, or taking a mindful pause.

The walk itself

We then begin the walk together at an easy, comfortable pace. These are not fitness hikes and nobody is expected to keep up with anyone else. The focus is simply being outdoors, noticing your surroundings and taking part in your own way.

Photography is completely optional. Most people simply use their phone if they want to take photos, and some people do not take photos at all. There is no right or wrong way to join in.

Pause and notice moments

During the walk we usually stop once or twice for a short pause and notice moment. This might be a simple prompt such as noticing sounds, textures, colours or something that feels calming. You can join in or just stand quietly and take the time for yourself.

Friendly and low pressure

Some walks naturally include gentle conversation, while others are quieter and reflective. You never have to share anything personal, and you are always free to walk alongside whoever feels comfortable.

Finishing the session

At the end we gather briefly to finish together. Sometimes people share something they noticed, sometimes we simply thank everyone for coming and say goodbye. There is never any pressure to stay or speak.

Who these walks are for

Our sessions are designed especially for women who want a calm, supportive space outdoors. Many people join us because they are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, new to the area, returning after illness, caring for others, or simply wanting some gentle time for themselves.

Everything is optional

You can talk or stay quiet

You can take photos or not

You can join every activity or simply walk

You are always welcome exactly as you are.
